ILS? What’s that?

ILS stands for Integrated Library System.  This is the software we use to manage the library holdings.  It includes a database with two interfaces —  one for staff  and one for patrons.  The staff interface is currently Sirsi’s WorkFlows and includes the following modules:

  • Circulation (lending materials to patrons and receiving them back)
  • Acquisitions (ordering, receiving, and invoicing materials)
  • Cataloging(classifying and indexing materials)
  • Serials(tracking magazine and newspaper holdings)

The patron interface we use currently is Sirsi’s eLibrary,  also known as the Library Catalog or the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog).
